Revered indie vocalist Cynthia Catania steps away from her traditional rhythms to microdose new grooves that combine a minimalist soundscape splashed with eerie haunting beats in her latest single “Suitcase” co-written with singer-songwriter Beth Thornley. The new track releases on Hot Press Magazine’s YouTube December 7th 2020 with a gorgeous new music video created by filmmaking team Michael Khachadoorian and Sue Ann Pien.
Sue Ann Pien has been directing music videos for The Secret Things starting with her directorial debut “All the Way Down“. Her second directorial project was the band’s remake of PJ Harvey’s “Down By the Water” which she has a cameo in. The Secret Things band name came about as an auditory exploration of the darker themes in human psyches, which Sue Ann reflects visually as a filmmaker, often taking on social justice issues through their music videos.
Learning the original song was about filicide, my ideas for updating that theme to bring awareness to transgendered people’s journeys felt mystically right.
